that's pretty much what the past 10 weeks have been about... challenging myself to doing something different, still running just on a different surface and trying really really hard not to die. and look at that... i didn't die. WOOT. win for me. i joined up with the Rock Runners for the spring trail session, it was super fun, super challenging hills, hills and more hills with one more thrown in for extra credit. it was so much fun, my fitness at the beginning of the session was shit, its better now, not completely back to where i was before i got injured and dealt with all the bp med crap but better none the less...
today was the last run of the session, we were out at Lost Valley, beautiful trail and park in St. Charles County. the first few miles felt like a death march up a hill, i still generally detest hills, my heart doesn't like them either but i digress... we were rewarded with a nice down hill and then a bit of a off road adventure... about 5.5 miles in i bit it really good, total face plant covered from neck down in dirt... figures i'd bite it really good on the last mile of the last run... oh well
all in all, i'm happy i pushed myself to go off-road. its what i needed to get my head back into it.
half starts in a week... perhaps I'll figure out how to add photos and videos to my posts by then... perhaps
see you on the road
